Exterior design and connectivity of the Panasonic TX-24DS500E
He design outside seems a bit outdatedAt first glance and due to its size, it could pass for a computer monitor, a use that is also perfectly recommended for this device whenever we need a high resolution screen. Its construction is entirely in plastic of satin black color with a not very thick frame but that widens at its lower edge where the brand’s logo is engraved. It has the typical rectangular base stand with a rounded central pillar that supports the screen itself. The visual sensation is of robustness with an elegant, but already very seen look.
As for connectivity refers, the Panasonic TX-24DS500E comes quite well equipped and although it is not a high number, it offers us all those inputs and outputs that can be considered “essential”, as is the case of a port HDMI with ARC support, one port USB version 2.0, Ethernet socket RJ45 or LAN, digital audio output optical, headphone jack as well as component video and audio input. To all this is added its wireless connectivity with Integrated WiFi, something difficult to see in models of these inches.
Image quality and features in general
The Panasonic TX-24DS500E offers a good image quality in general, without spectacular performance but more than sufficient for its intended use. It has a panel of 24 inches and 720P resolution 1366 x 768 pixels, which although for its diagonal is sufficient, it would have been a success if it had been Full HD. However it has a high dynamic refresh rate of 400 Hz BMR and technology Adaptive Backlight Dimming, which adjusts the amount of on-screen backlighting based on the type of images projected.
It is the sound section perhaps the poorest, with a single output power 2 x 3W, enough for use over short distances but we do not want to listen to television in a room of greater dimensions or something louder.
The final weight of this model including its support is 5 kilograms, so we can move it without major complications and has a low energy consumption of only 24 kWh per year, so you get a good energy classification type A +.
Software analysis and Smart TV
Thanks to its integrated WiFi and its operating system FireFox, the Panasonic TX-24DS500E becomes a true Smart TV. Through its interface My Home Screen Based on said operating system, we will have organized both the operation as a television, as well as the access to our favorite online contents and applications, and can even configure different home screens for multiple users. To all this is added an excellent capacity as Media player through its USB, with support for a large number of formats including Matroska, FLV or FLAC for example.
But perhaps the two most interesting functions are what Panasonic calls In-House TV Streaming, which makes it possible to use our television as a “client” receiver for terrestrial, satellite or cable broadcasts through our router or WiFi and as long as we have another compatible model that acts as a “transmitter”, without the need therefore to have a specific antenna socket where we want to place our little companion.
The other function would be the Swipe & Share that allows us to send the content of our smartphones and tablets to the TV screen by simply sliding our fingers up on the touch screen, yes, using the application Panasonic TV Remote.
